Easter Egg Sensory Bottles

It's no secret that my little bunny is in love with sensory bottles! Therefore, it was absolutely necessary that I come up with some kind of sensory bottle for him in honor of his first Easter. I wanted to do both a wet sensory bottle and a dry one. I love that there are so many different options to put in the bottles and that different elements do different things when added to them. I love trying new combinations and seeing what the result is and how Kingston reacts to them!

For these sensory bottles, you will need two empty water bottles, glitter, blue food coloring, a bag of multi-color pom poms, and mini Easter eggs (these are from Hobby Lobby and come in two different sizes .. they fit perfectly into the water bottles!)

For the dry water bottle, I simply added the different sized eggs and then mini pom-poms in yellow, baby blue, pink, and white. The little white pom-poms looked like fuzzy Easter bunny tails. The last thing I did was glue the cap on.

For the wet bottle, I filled it up 3/4 of the way with water, then I added a couple squirts of blue food coloring. As the color dispersed, I added some of the Easter eggs and pom-poms. I also added some silver glitter. Then I glued the cover shut.

The eggs in the dry bottle made a really fun sound when shaken. Also they are very light in weight, so this bottle is very easily maneuverable for little hands. The eggs in the wet bottle did something really fun! Since they float, they stayed on top when up right and then immediately floated to the opposite side when flipped over. When the bottle is laid on its side, the eggs do a little dance from one side to the other. I thought this sensory bottle came out awesome and the shade of blue was really fun!

I gave Kingston the Easter Egg Shaker Bottle first. This bottle is similar in weight to the Cat in the Hat Sensory Bottle we made during Dr. Seuss week! Since K still plays with that one, I knew right away that this one would be a hit! He enjoyed shaking it and throwing it around. I talked about Easter eggs and told him that chickens lay eggs. Then I told him that chickens say "buck buck" and chicks say "peep peep". His favorite song is Old McDonald Had a Farm, (so much so that I have added about 30 verses to it by now.. sometimes we even delve into exotic animals like monkeys!)  so he loves animal noises.

After a bit, I replaced the shaker bottle with the Easter Egg Sensory Water Bottle. He loved it. This bottle was pretty heavy, similar to our Valentine's Day sensory bottles. He loves lifting heavy objects and showing off his strength, so I knew he would do just fine with this one as well. I shook it up for him and let him go. He liked watching the eggs go back and forth in the bottle. We rolled it around on the floor and watched the glitter twirl around.

Kingston really enjoyed playing with his Easter sensory bottles and we will add them to our collection which is available for him to explore every day. It is so much fun to take something that would generally be thrown out and re-purpose it into a toy for your little one! Please let me know if you make these for your little bunny!!
