Exploring Carrots (Part 2)

After we painted with carrots, I decided to do a footprint craft with Kingston with the leftover orange paint. I had seen footprint carrots recently on Pinterest and decided we would try them out. K is such a good sport when it comes to prints. He let Mama dip his little feet in the orange paint and stamp them on cardstock. Once they were dry, I took a green permanent marker and drew a green stem on each one. I think they came out pretty cute!

To finish off our carrot exploration baby-school day, I bought some fresh organic carrots from the store. I boiled them on the stove and mashed them. Then, I put them in the blender (generally I would use the Baby Bullet, but we were not home) and added some breast milk. The end result was some delicious carrot puree for Kingston to try for dinner! I thought this would be the ultimate final sensory activity to finish off our exploration. When K woke up from his nap, I had the carrots all ready for him to eat for dinner.

He loved them!! While I fed him, I told him all kinds of things about how bunnies can eat carrots and he can eat carrots. I also said "orange" over and over again to encourage the start of color association. He leaned forward each time I brought the spoon to his mouth to take a big bite! He ate every spec of carrots that I offered him. The rest of the carrots went in the freezer to be eaten at another time!

When we were done with dinner, we got into our pajamas and re-read all of our books about rabbits. Kingston had so much fun exploring carrots and bunnies!

And just for fun ... here is a sneak peak of K's Easter/6 Month photoshoot by our amazing photographers TwiceAsNicePhotography (there is definitely some bunny and carrot exploration going on here!!) :
