Toddler Thanksgiving Basket

Oh how I love Thanksgiving! It is such a low maintenance wonderful holiday for us. All we have to do is show up at Great Glam*Ma's house for dinner and Glam*Ma's for dessert. We get to laze around and watch the Thanksgiving parade, go eat amazing food, and relax into a food coma afterwards. Last Thanksgiving, Kingston was 2 months old. He slept in his carseat next to me at the table the ENTIRE time! Because of this, I feel like this is his first real Thanksgiving, where he will get to watch the parade, eat turkey, watch football, and try some pumpkin pie. Oh and of course give thanks! I wanted to put together a little basket to help introduce him to the concepts of the holiday.

What was in K's Thanksgiving basket?

Books:

Theo's Thanksgiving (Scratch and Sniff)
Kingston LOVES this book! It is his favorite out of all of them. He loves the scratch and sniff pictures, especially the stuffing. We have read it over and over again since he received it.

Count Your Blessings! (Lift-The-Flap Book)
This book is so interactive! It has tons of lift-the-flaps, a seek and find element, and also a counting aspect! Kingston's favorite part is the bears. This was the only secular book I could find that talks about the definition of thanksgiving and appreciating the world around you. It is a great introduction to appreciation for toddlers.

My First Thanksgiving
We have read this simple book over and over. It is a great book to introduce your baby/toddler to Thanksgiving.

Spot's Thanksgiving
This board book is all about Spot making a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. The plot is simplistic, but K loved all of the puppies and Spot's pilgrim hat!

10 Fat Turkeys
This is a fun and silly Thanksgiving themed counting book. The rhymes are fun to read, and I can see us reading this book for years to come!

The Story of Thanksgiving
This board book is a much more detailed introduction to Thanksgiving for toddlers. It highlights the history of Thanksgiving, as well as how we celebrate today.

DVD:

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
I wanted to get Kingston a Thanksgiving themed DVD to watch. I chose this one without ever watching it, so I can't recommend it. We are going to watch it soon!

Other items included are a melamine bear bowl from the Target Dollar Section, Kingston's Thanksgiving sweater, an Autumn sensory bottle using the exact contents found in our Autumn Sensory Bag, some pumpkin spice play dough using this recipe from Fun At Home With Kids, and a Thanksgiving card!

I packaged everything in a new straw basket that will be used to keep his books in the living really wanted to include this Gund Fun Thanksgiving Li'l Stuffing Turkey, but time got away from me!!

What are your favorite Thanksgiving themed books, movies, activities that you use every year with your children?
