What I Love Collage

Today is the last day that we will be "showing you the love" in the Show Me the Love series. Our last activity was a perfect culmination to our week of Valentine's Day fun, a What I Love collage! This activity is great for infant-preschool, but was seriously perfect for my 16 month old toddler.

To make the collage, I cut a large piece of contact paper and taped it sticky side up to his table (it wasn't perfect, but it came out great once I un-taped it). I printed pictures and clipart of Kingston's favorite things onto cardstock. Printing onto the cardstock made the pictures durable, and K was able to stick and un-stick them as many times as he wanted, which for a toddler is pretty important! Here was the lineup of Kingston's favorite things: Mama & Dada, Glam*Ma, Grumpy, Aunta, his best friend Livvy, his puppy brother Krull, his stuffed bear, Mickey Mouse, string cheese, grapes, pizza, My Gym, snow, and books!

I laid all the pieces in a pile, picture side up, next to the contact paper.

Like the other activities we did this week, I didn't do much explaining. I just let K make his collage the way he saw fit! I was so excited to watch him examine each picture, pointing out everyone and getting excited over his loves.

A picture of what "I" love!

As we talked about all of the different pictures, I wasn't surprised that his favorites were of his family, especially Grumpy, Glam*Ma, and Aunta! He loves them very much. He took extra special care placing their pictures down, and they got rearranged quite a few times before he was satisfied.

He admired the picture of his Grumpy for quite awhile!

Here he is giving his Aunta a good pat!

I seriously couldn't get enough of these little determined hands pressing all of the pictures down.

And Glam*Ma! She got rearranged over and over again.

When he was done, he patted everything back down and then was off to have a snack (string cheese of course!) I removed the tape and cut another piece of contact paper to lay over the top sealing in all of the pictures. I am so happy with the way it turned out, and pretty shocked that all of the pictures are facing the proper way. I don't think you would have ever guessed that a 16 month old made this collage! He did a great job orienting the pictures, and he had a great time seeing a bunch of his loves in one place!

Sadly, this is the last day of our awesome series! Don't forget to check out what my cohosts are up to today!
