Toddler Valentine's Day Basket - Showing Kids Love

I am really excited to be teaming up with my fellow All Things Kids Mamas to bring you another series just in time for Valentine's Day: Showing Kids Love. The 5 love languages were brought to my attention awhile back by a friend. I haven't read the book, but after reading a brief summary, I found myself fitting into most of the categories. When I discovered this version for children through ATK, I thought the same thing about my little guy. He is only 16 months, and can't actively discuss with me where he best fits, but based on my love languages, it is clear to see the few that stand out the most in him. One of them, receiving gifts, is what I chose to focus on today! We do a basket of gifts for every holiday around here. In fact, my Valentine's Day post about last year's basket was my first real post on this blog! I was excited to revisit this holiday this year and prepare something fun for K to show him how much we love him. 

Typically, I fill our baskets with books! However, we have plenty of books for each holiday at this point. I thought it would be fun to see what else I could find for his basket. With just a little bit of money at the Dollar Tree, I was able to get a ton of fun stuff for Kingston. In his basket there was, a Valentine's frog stuffed animal, bubbles, these little balloon filled pouches that you smack and they explode, 5 giant packs of stickers (he is obsessed AND they double as a fun potty training incentive!), 5 packs of these awesome wooden magnetic tangrams that we will be using for lots of learning activities on metal cookie sheets, a heart shaped touch light, a solar powered dancing elephant, a mini magnadoodle, and two large puzzles (not pictured here). Also, I built him a little lion mailbox from a craft kit I bought on clearance last year, and there was a special Valentine from Mama and Dada!

He was so excited to dig into his basket and just lit right up! 

We opened and played with everything as he went. We blew bubbles, did puzzles, drew, etc. It doubled as a fabulous bonding time with my little guy (another love language is quality time!)

He politely read his card and admired the alligator on the front. 

The touch lamp was the big hit of the basket! He was so excited and knew just what it was. This will be going on many an adventure with us. 

He tested out his magnadoodle, which is going to be great for car rides!

We smacked some balloon pouches!

And when we were done, he signed thank you and gave me a big kiss! He is such a sweetheart. There was definitely a lot of love flowing in our kitchen this afternoon!
