For March's Baby Book Club meeting, we read one of our very favorite baby/toddler books: Moo Baa La La La. Everyone was very excited, as this book was pretty familiar to all of the kids. For this meeting, we had 6 kiddos, and I have to say it was probably our most laid back and enjoyable meeting yet! We gathered around and read our book several times, and then moved right into what everyone was most excited about, our Farm Sensory Bin!
I was so excited about how this bin came out. I used three different sensory mediums: cinnamon oats for the chickens and ducks (leftover from our A is for Apple Cinnamon Sensory Bin), corn kernels for the pigs (left over from our Autumn Colors Corn Sensory Bin), and hay for the horses, cows, and sheep (leftover from Pumpkin Patch Sensory Bin). I was thrilled that I was able to reuse our sensory materials, and I loved how it looked all separated with white fencing. The animals and chicken coop were from the Little People Fun Sounds Farm
and the Fisher-Price Little People Farm Pond and Pig Pen Playset
. I love how cute the Little People animals looked against the natural backgrounds. They were perfect for chubby little toddler hands.
The kids were SO excited to dig in. This was the first group sensory experience we have ever done, and a first for Baby Book Club also, so everyone was very excited.
The kids went for the animals first. Then they began exploring the different sensory materials.
They were even sweet enough to share with their Mamas!
For our snack, we made "Farmer's Market Smoothies" using frozen organic kale, orange mango juice, and bananas. The kids each got to try it in sippy cups. It was really cute to watch them taste it.
Kingston enjoyed some delicious banana bread with his buddy A on the counter!
Seriously, look at this face!! Little A is too cute!
Kingston and his adorable buddy L were having a serious literary discussion at the Latt table
, but L was able to pause long enough to give me a sweet smile!
All of the kids had a great time reading, playing, and eating. Follow along with us next month for: Dinosaur Roar!
I love to see what you choose for baby book club. Love the sensory bin too. I added it to my Pinterest board, Sensory Bins to Extend Stories.
