One of Kingston's favorite things about Fall are all of the leaves that seem to take over our yard. He loves finding them, examining them, and toting them around. This year, I am excited to let him jump in the piles! Recently, we made the cutest fall themed print craft inspired by this Autumn staple, Leaf Handprints! I think they are beautiful, and now want toddler-made leaf art adorning my entire house.
To make this print craft, you will need:
Brown, Gold, and Orange/Red Ink
White Cardstock
Brown Marker
Ink your little ones hand in each of the colors and print them on the paper. It's as simple as that! In between colors, we use baby wipes to clean off the mess.
If your little one is old enough, they can add the leaf details themselves. However, if you are doing this project with an infant or toddler, add the stem details in yourself! I actually really enjoyed doing this part.
K was really excited to make his "yeaves"! This would be an excellent activity to do with the adorable book Leaves
K thought he was really funny when he printed himself with the ink from one of his leaves. Oy. Crafting with a toddler is pretty hilarious!
What kind of ink did you use for the hands ?
ReplyDeleteI Love this and looks pretty easy for some school age children to do also.
Thank you Cheryl! It certainly is a simple craft to do! We used the ink linked above! You can just click the link to bring you directly to the Amazon product! :)
DeleteI do not see a link for ink.
DeleteUnder the second picture there is a list of things you'll need for this activity. They are hyperlinks. Click on the one for BROWN, GOLD, AND ORANGE/RED INK.
DeleteThank you for answering second "anonymous"! :) :)
DeleteThese leaves came out so pretty! Found your post from Happy Hooligan's facebook page!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Susen! So glad you found us! :)
Deleteawesome;i work in daycare and these are some very inspiring ideas i;ll be wanting to use some of these creative ideas to teach my childen.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Glad to help!
DeleteGood old crayola finger paint (and pudding, surprisingly enough) also works for this sort of thing. I tend to use what I have on hand...
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Laura! Use whatever works for you! I prefer ink because I like to see the definition in the hands. There is something about those tiny lines and markings that are incredibly endearing to me!! :)
DeleteCould you use washable paint as well??
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, however the prints won't be as distinct! I really like seeing all the little wrinkles and lines in the itty bitty hands. Paint would definitely work though!
DeleteThanks so much for the great idea for the leaf handprints! My 5 year old and I had a great time! :-)
