Introducing the newest precious addition to House of Burke:
Bentley Jamison
Born: August 23, 2014 at 9:28 am
9 lbs 11 oz
19 inches
Bentley was born via c-section after 26 hours of labor. For those readers who are active on our Facebook page, you know that I was going for a VBAC. However, after another episode of PROM (premature rupture of membranes aka my water breaking prior to active labor starting) and a days worth of serious contracts between 2-8 minutes apart that didn't dilate me past 1 cm, I accepted the c-section. Turns out, Bentley was not even engaged in the birth canal and was still -3 station when they did the surgery. This c-section was a night and day experience from my first. I was NOT separated from Bentley ever. They put him on me right from the beginning and he has stayed there ever since.
He is such a little love, and for such a "big boy" he really is quite small. He has the tiniest feet ever and short, chunky legs. He has the puffiest and sweetest little cheeks on his tiny face. We can't get over how similar he looks to Kingston, but how much like Mama he looks! Kingston looked just like Daddy! Bentley has dark brown hair and the complete opposite coloring of K. His skin is tan and if it weren't for their faces, you'd never even know they were brothers!
Kingston has been smitten with him from the very beginning. I have been amazed with how gentle he has been and how sweet. He constantly wants to pat him, gives him kisses, and just lay next to him. Unfortunately when we got home from the hospital, K came down with a cold so we had to keep them separated for a bit. Now that Kingston is feeling better, we are starting to all bond together as a family!
Bentley has been nursing great and sleeping awesome! He isn't a big crier either. He fusses for a second and then is happy and content once he is on the boob. He sleeps a lot during the day, but when he is awake, he is incredibly alert and active. He has already started holding toys and will make eye contact with whoever is holding him. He smiles when tickled and has some great expressions.
We have spent the past 2 weeks settling in as a family of 4. Now that Todd has gone back to work, I will be busy figuring out this SAHM of 2 thing! I am already itching to get some activities going for the two of them. Yup, I'm serious. Bentley needs a sensory bin ASAP! So far, my biggest hurdle is entertaining the toddler while B is nursing and making sure that everyone remains happy. I can't wait to settle into a nice routine and get back into the swing of things once I'm fully recovered and we get our bearings a little!
We couldn't be more smitten with our newest little man. It's crazy how you don't know how it will feel to love another child, and then the second they come into your life, you're head over heels. I can't imagine our lives without him already. I love having two boys and I'm so excited for this new adventure!
Welcome to the world gorgeous little man! Kingston looks so proud of his little brother already and he really is a heart breaker! congratulations to you all and I can't wait to see Bentley attack his first sensory bin!
