I can't believe that Bentley is already a month! (I'm a little late updating..and he is actually already 1.5 months!) It is mind blowing. My little baby is ALWAYS smiling. He acts like he is 3 months. I am constantly surprised by him. I can't get over how good he is. He is definitely not a high maintenance baby, unlike his brother, and he has such a sweet disposition. He is the perfect addition to our family. It seems like he's been here forever!
Bentley's 1 Month Stats (We didn't have a 1 month appt so these are guesstimates!)
Weight: We think he is 13 lbs! This is from Todd getting on the scale and then putting Bentley on the scale. Imagine?!! He's huge!!
Height: 20 3/4
Clothing Size: He is in everything at this point. For sleepers, he is still in newborn and 0-3 month. For onesies he is wearing 0-3 month and 3 month. Though some of those don't fit and some are too big. It's definitely a guessing game with this little guy.
Diapers: He spent the first half of his first month in newborn all in ones and prefolds and covers. However, he switched over to one size diapers at 3 weeks and they fit perfectly! He now wears the same diapers as brother which is really convenient.
Favorite Song: The Wheels on the Bus
Favorite Activity: Nursing, Smiling, Snuggling, Sleeping
This little guy acts so much older than he is! He rolled over for the first time at 2 weeks old (front to back), and he is already working on going from back to front. He has been holding his head up since birth and is getting stronger by the day. He nurses wonderfully and has a phenomenal latch! The first couple of weeks I was incredibly engorged, but the little chunker did whatever necessary to get on there and clearly he had his fill! I am making a lot more milk this time around, so he is satisfied a lot more. He takes a BINKY!! I can't believe it. I so desperately wanted a binky baby. K would never take one, and therefore was only ever soothed by the nipple. Bentley is a lot more relaxed and isn't as finicky.
He is sleeping pretty well! We haven't had any sleepless nights like I did with K. I remember walking the halls for hours and hours or cluster feeding all night. I don't want to speak too soon, but B wakes up 2-4 times a night to nurse. Typically around 2 or 3, then he is pretty good about going back to sleep. If he is having a tough time going back, I take him in bed with us and snuggle him and he is content, cozy, and sleeps wonderfully. I love co-sleeping with him! He is currently still in the co-sleeper attached to our bed, and I don't plan on moving him out of there until absolutely necessary.
The only minor sleep issues we've had have been due to congestion. He was congested for about 2 weeks, but he is on the mend and seems to be just about back to normal. Whatever normal is!
He does really well in the car seat and also in the Ergo. He is big enough to sit in the Ergo already with a blanket propped under him! Just like brother, he generally goes to sleep as soon as the car starts moving. It is such a blessing! I'm hoping the car stays pretty peaceful. I am getting pretty good at taking both boys out alone. So far we have gone on multiple play dates, a bunch of stores, and to the park. The double stroller has been the best thing for sure!
I have spent this past month just counting my blessings. Bentley is SUCH an awesome baby and is so precious. He hardly ever cries except when he is hungry or needs a diaper! He is very content looking around and learning about the world. He has already been exposed to so much. I have tried to include him in all of Kingston's sensory bins, not because I think he cares to join in, but so that he is getting new experiences. He has also been to all kinds of places, my favorite being the apple orchard and pumpkin picking. Today, he will go to his very first fair! It has been much easier than I expected to include him in all of our activities. He has made everything even more fun! I can't wait to see what my baby boy has accomplished in the coming month. I'm sure he will move mountains just like his brother!
