Does your family do Elf on the Shelf
? We just started this year, and it has quickly become apparent that this elf does NOT in fact move on his own! What gives? For $30, I thought for SURE he would move on his own. Well people, he doesn't! That being said, as fun as your little scout elf is (and I don't care how creepy some people say he looks, because I personally think he is adorable!) sometimes you are just going to forget to move him. With an infant and a toddler, this has happened to us quite a few times already. This has forced me to be a bit creative in the cover up story!

Enter these amazing Elf of the Shelf Adhesive Bandages
(don't let the Amazon price fool you, I picked them up for $1 at Target! Stock up while you can!) We gave these to K as part of his elf gifts this year, and they are adorable. So, when I forgot to move our elf one morning, I came up with a clever explanation: "Oh Kingston, poor Percy! He's not feeling well. I think he's sick and needs his rest. Let's make him some get well cards!" Now while I don't necessarily advocate lying to your child, IF it is in defense of Christmas magic, I FULLY CONDONE IT! So, we were off to make some elf get well cards for our poor beloved scout elf who Mama forgot to move.
I folded a piece of white cardstock
and pulled the backings off the bandages. I handed them to K one by one and he worked his fine motor skills as he stuck the bandages down.

The box of bandages comes with two different designs, so the cards looked extra cute!
When he was done, we wrote a little message to Percy inside and gave it to him!
The next time you forget to move your Elf on the Shelf, don't panic! Simply make him some get well cards instead. Even magical scout elves get sick sometimes you know!
