Make Way For Ducklings Print Craft

(Affiliate links included for your convenience!)

It's that time of month again: Book Club Play Dates! This month, we read the classic Boston based story Make Way for Ducklings. This story is really close to my heart. It's a story I grew up reading. I used to go on field trips and visits to Boston's Public Garden to see the statues of the ducklings. I can't wait to take Bentley there to see them soon! Our copy of Make Way for Ducklings was given to us at Kingston's baby shower. It has been very well loved over the past two years!

We made a super simple and fun print craft to go along with the story of Mr. Mallard, Mrs. Mallard and their 8 little ducklings.

To make our ducks we used washable paint and ink. To make Mr. Mallard, I inked Kingston's hand with brown ink . I then inked his thumb with green ink to make Mr. Mallard's green neck and face. For Mrs. Mallard, I painted his hand with yellow washable paint and he printed that. Then I painted his thumb and he smooshed it on the paper 8 times to make Jack, Kack, Lack, Mack, Nack, Ouack, Pack, and Quack! He made sure he counted them up and that they were all there. When everything was dry, I used markers to draw on the duck and duckling details. I think it turned out really cute! You could add scenery details too if you so desired.

Head on over to my fellow Book Club Play Daters pages to check out their activities!
