The Story Box Review and Giveaway

(Disclaimer: We received a subscription to The Story Box in exchange for our review! All thoughts and opinions are our own!)

We are pretty huge fans of subscription box services over here. In the past, we have had subscriptions to a bunch of different boxes like Citrus Lane, Love with Food, and Bluum. When we heard about a fabulous literary based subscription box for kids, we were immediately intrigued! The Story Box is a subscription box company owned by speech-language pathologist Holly and her husband Clint, fellow parents just like you and me. These boxes are geared towards babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and early elementary (Kindergarten-2nd graders). As a subscriber, each month you will receive 2 newb ooks and a parent guide. The parent guide is chock full of awesome information about each book, ways to enrich the reading experience with your child, and activities to do to further the reach of the story and deepen the reading comprehension for your little one. In your first box, you will even receive a guide that explains how to take one story and adapt it for all different reading ages and stages. Signing up for a subscription to The Story Box doesn't just benefit your child. A portion of the sales of each subscription is used to donate books and materials to children at risk or have literacy disorders! A monthly subscription will run you between $19.99 - $21.99 depending on how many months you purchase at a time.

My kiddos were both psyched to receive a box in the mail! Let's face it, receiving packages is even exciting for grownups, so signing your child up for a monthly box is quite the treat. They sat right down to rip into it. Kingston immediately grabbed both books out, while Bentley went to town distributing the white packing filler ALL over the house! (A sensory bin AND a literary box all in one!)

We were greeted with two fantastic books: It's Monday Mrs. Jolly Bones! by Warren Hanson and Kiss the Cow! by Phyllis Root. The first thing K said when he opened it was, "OH I LOVE KISS THE COW!" See, we actually already own this book. BUT The Story Box has an amazing policy! If you happen to already own a book that your child receives in their monthly box, all you need to do is take a picture of the two of them together and email it to them. They will add an EXTRA book to your box the following month free of charge. Now that is an awesome policy! That was one of the concerns I had about receiving a monthly book box, but with that policy we are provided with insurance. Now we will be able to gift or donate the duplicate book we received!

Of course, K wanted to read them both immediately. So, we all snuggled up and read through them. While we already knew that Kiss the Cow! was an awesome read, we were pleasantly surprised by how fun and silly It's Monday, Mrs. Jolly Bones! Kingston loved it. He was laughing and pointing to the silly animals in all of the pictures. I loved the illustrations! It was great to be able to read and enjoy a book we had never heard of before.

Also in our box was our Parent Guide, a special guide (included in first box only) showcasing how to use the same book with kids of various ages, and a flyer that offered a chance to win a free box by sharing our unboxing pictures! I was SO impressed with the Parent Guide. I loved the in depth break down of each story by age and how to approach sharing it with each age group. My favorite part were the "Example Activities" and the "Get Hands-On" sections! There is nothing we love more than extending a book further with hands on experiences, crafts, and activities. I love that this box makes it easy for me by choosing the books for me AND giving me ideas of activities to extend them.

Are you interested in joining The Story Box and signing your child up to receive a monthly literary adventure? I'd be shocked if you weren't!
