This was an extra addition that I added at the request of the boys! As they painted, I asked them some of the prompts from the Teachers Guide. They were both pretty set on using every color available and as much as they possibly could! We talked about what symbols they wanted on their surfboards. Bentley drew all kinds of pictures that he quickly covered up with more paint and more pictures! Kingston was more methodical in his painting. When they were finished, they had so much paint on their boards that they would never dry. So instead of waiting for hours, we flipped them over and pressed them into the paper towels they were using underneath. He covered the plate in brown paint as we talked about the texture of a turkey's feathers. He tried recreating the same texture with his roller brush.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nWhile the paper plate dried, K took a try at tracing his hand onto construction paper. This was a fantastic pre-writing activity, and he traced several times before he was able to get a decent looking handprint. Straight lines are much more his speed right now, so this was a fun activity for him. When he had cut two legs, I showed him how to fold them accordion style. Then he tried his hand at it! I freehanded some feet, and K pasted them onto the bottom of the legs. Then I provided him with the face pieces for his turkey, and he worked on pasting them on. During her time there, she is forced to adapt to her surroundings and behave like the baby birds. Eventually she is reunited with her mother and relearns how to be a bat! Kingston and I couldn't stop gushing over the adorable pictures of little Stellaluna. She is SO cute! We let it dry for several minutes, then K used his fine motor skills to squeeze a few drops of glue onto the clothespin. He attached the first wing, then squeezed more glue on top of that wing and attached the second one. We have a giant preschool workbook that was passed on to us from a family friend, and a lot of the activities require lines to be drawn and items to be circled. Then, Kingston dipped the carrot in paint and traced over the straight line. Anytime the carrot ran out of paint, he would dip it back in again and finish the rest of the line. Then, I made him a second line, even fainter than the first. He is certainly going to be more of a challenge with art projects than Kingston ever was! K hardly ever mouthed anything. I used to constantly get the question, \"How do you do that with him?\" Well now I understand! He didn't hesitate to reach in and help me mix the two colors. Then I handed him back the carrot and showed him how to paint. He waved it around a bit, gave it another taste, and rolled it on the paper. Most of his painting happened when he was trying to get the carrot back into his mouth! When he was done, I cleaned him up and gave him a new carrot to chew on.
